When the TradeSumo team contacted us they had already been nominated as one of the most promising start up’s by the tech magazine. The founder’s vision was to build a digital platform that would create a marketplace for simple trade. Their initial idea was to facilitate the trade through their system, however the product could not make the inroads that were expected and customer acquisition was quickly decreasing.
When the Netrocon team took over the platform for a redesign the initial study revealed some great flaws with the system and business design. For starters, the target customers were not clearly defined and so the marketing could not be effective. Secondly, the team envisioned the product to facilitate high transaction rate but customers did not see the need to keep coming back after using it once. To make matters worse, their services started overlapping with other businesses such as Letgo and eBay, which had better user experiences.
Our team jumped in and first started by redefining the design to address the market we believed the product will fit well into. Next, we put together a user experience and business process that focused on metrics that mattered to this user group.
